The Marine Course prepares youths for a career in the marine engineering industry.

  • Certificate in Marine Technology (Maintenance)

    i. Course Description


    This training course is assessed using practical (70%) and theory (30%) based evaluations covering system & marine vessel maintenance and repair works. Among modules offered in this course are Diesel Engine Maintenance (Overhaul), Ship Transmission & Genset, Piping & Connection System Maintenance, Cooling System Maintenance, Boiler System Maintenance, Propeller & Rudder System Maintenance, Fire Prevention System Maintenance and Support System Maintenance in a ship vessel. Students will also be given training and exposure on safety guidelines & regulations while sailing according to standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Marine Department of Malaysia.


    ii. Career Prospects:


    Outstanding candidates in this field will be able to hold positions such as:

    1) Mechanics in shipyards

    2) Onboard Engine Rating & Greasers

    3) Equipment Operators at Offshore Oil Rigs / Platforms

    4) Boilerman (Class 2)

  • Advance Certificate in Marine Technology (Maintenance)

    i. Course Description


    This is an advance course in Marine Technology where students are trained with skills in marine maintenance covering vessel system troubleshooting / repair works, supervision and preparation of damage reports for engineers. Among modules offered in this course are Internal Combustion Engine Technology, Wheel Alignment & Hydraulic Rudder, Cooling System, 2-Strokes & 4-Strokes Outboard Engine Technology and other additional support systems. Upon completion, students should be able to fully understand ship mechanical systems and are able to maintain as well as repair marine vessels.


    ii. Career Prospects:


    Outstanding candidates in this field will be able to hold positions such as:

    - Marine Technicians & Supervisors in shipyards

    - Oiler, Watchkeeping Engineer, Second Engineer Officer & Onboard Chief Engineer (Marine Department)

    - Instructors in private/public sector in related fields.

    - Equipment Operators at Offshore Oil Rigs / Platforms

    - Boilerman (Class 1), Steam Engineer (Class 2), Steam Engineer (Class 1) (JKKP)

  • Certificate in Marine Technology (Fibreglass Boat Design)

    i. Course Description


    This training course is assessed using practical and theory based evaluations covering fibreglass boat design and production. Students will also be given training and exposure on equipments and materials used in fibreglass boat production. Students will be gauged through a number of aspects including knowledge, skill, safety and practical work.


    ii. Career Prospects:


    Outstanding candidates in this field will be able to hold positions such as mechanics in the boat production industry and entrepreneurs in the fibreglass boat production industry.
